The Mississauga Players Theatre Group, or unofficially, Mississauga Players, or simply The Players was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1981 and registered as a charity in 1983. In the early days rehearsals were held in the basement of St. Luke's Church on Dixie Rd. The Players moved to a city owned property south of Lakeshore Rd. but lost the space due to the development of the waterside east of Cawthra Rd. The concrete block building is currently located below the baseball diamond. The next move was to another City owned facility; Cranberry Cove west of Mississauga Rd, in Port Credit. This building was demolished to make way for the development of Rhododendron Gardens. Both City facilities had been available at a nominal rent to The Players. The Players then conducted an extensive search for suitable rehearsal and storage space for costumes, props, sets, and other equipment. An industrial unit was leased by The Players, on Royal Windsor Drive, west of Southdown Rd and dubbed The Clubhouse. Although The Clubhouse was an ideal space for The Players to meet, rehearse, build sets, and store equipment, the unit came at a considerable expense. In the fall of 2011, in the spirit of reducing expenses, The Players made the difficult decision to not renew The Clubhouse lease and move once again. Shared space was secured at St. Paul's Church on Lorne Park Rd. for the 2011-2012 season, and will continue to be the space for rehearsal as well as storage of costumes, sets, props and set dressing.

In the early years, The Players performed in high-school auditoriums, and city owned facilities including Meadowvale Theatre. Renovations at one of the last affordable locations; Huron Park, necessitated a move to the Burnhamthorpe Library Theatre and most recently a renovation to the Library resulted in a move to Clarke Hall in Port Credit.
